OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS

- Mitchell Regional 911 sounds all McCook County sirens automatically for any NWS Tornado Warning for any part of the county. Sirens may also be sounded when a trained spotter or official sees a funnel cloud or tornado.

- Sirens are meant for people outdoors. Indoors, rely on a NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone, or local media.

- Please don't call 911 to ask why sirens are sounding.

- Siren tests: first Friday of each month at 10 a.m., April through September.

- Sirens and their radio controls have battery backup.

WATCH vs. WARNING

A Watch means conditions are favorable, so get ready. A Warning means severe weather is happening or about to, so take shelter now.
